Arty, it looks smashing! Stand out. The last little bit you were finishing up cleaning up the edges defining just makes it have a big punch. Another great piece! I like that even though your pieces are different, I would have a very good chance of knowing your artwork. Having a style of your own is fabulous. Very hard to do. Originality!
Thank you so much for saying that. I struggle with my "style" or "voice" or whatever it is because I like to go in a lot of different directions. Galleries hate this, so I usually don't have anything NEW to send them since it takes forever to come back around and finish a series. I always think my work just looks confusing.
Well, I’m a pretty good objective voice because I’ve been around your work for years now, and I can always pick out your stuff even when it’s different styles. So yeah, I know the galleries do that to artists, and we tend to like to try different things. But you’re quite successful at it, pulling it all together that says YOU, even if you aren’t sure.
Something old/new. I was digging around and found this porcelain cabochon that I painted years ago. So long I didn't even remember it. SD card for scale.
This is an Old Master Copy of Velazquez "Aguador de Sevilla". Well, the original painting is very old and actually so is my copy.
Those stripes (ellipses) in a clay pot drove me NUTS!
The main character here, the water seller, is - I think - the father-in-law of Velazquez . .also a master painter himself and Velazquez's teacher early days.
