Ai, thanks. I love the pink trumpet flower trees that you posted. Are they in bloom for a long time, or are they like the magnolias here that bloom for just a short while? They look lovely tucked between the buildings.

Jo, thank you. Moving to another room to watch tv gave you some new models. Nice!!

Fletch, with all the surfers on Long Island I rarely get to see them in action. lol This one was standing by a beach shack as part of the decor. Hope you get to paint the clover ring today.

Ned, hope you feel better soon. I've been fighting something and am dragging the last few days...resting more than anything.

Joan: Thanks. Yes, our pink trumpet flower trees will remain in bloom in about a week. They drop those flowers too fast. Gorgeous boat and water dock scene. I can't believe you got all amazing details in under a postcard size. Applaud !!! The receiver will be so happy.

Ai, the trumpet flowers and scene is beautiful. Our bluebonnets are not growing, guess it was too dry and cold. Hopefully they are just late arrivals.

WHOOT! Actually found time to paint the ring. LOL
#1 Green! Ring from a St Patrick‘s Day cupcake (last year) in a pocket size sketchbook.
Took 3 days …that works out to about an inch a day.

Ai - The beauty of nature nestled in man-made structures pretty pinks.

Joan - Nice work on the boa, sheds and trees. Sharing art seems a lovely gesture.

Fletch, I'm amazed that you still had the ring from last year...and could find it. Nice work...remember, it isn't a race. lol Thanks for your comment.

I did make a quick run to the store and picked up a few things. Off and on drizzle today so I figured I'd stay in and paint. So of course the store I picked to go to had no long red or yellow peppers...only green. Grr!!! I wanted a colorful still life of peppers. I had to add in a few other things.

Joan: Such gorgeous veggies still-life. The peppers are vividly painted and the cabbage shows very nice texture.

Joan, such a lovely bunch of veggies. The combination might give you a bit of salsa. Yummy. I like cooked cabbage but Gene doesn't. We do have coleslaw once in a while. Your cabbage looks real.

Maybe I will sketch today ... really.

Joan - Love the intense color on the veggies. Funny how more muted colors give the head of cabbage texture. Both nicely done.

Ai, thanks. I had hoped to do just assorted hot peppers, but they had no real color variations and no long red ones!

Jo, thank you. I like cabbage. We ate it a lot as a kid and that's what it always reminds me of.

Fletch, thanks. It's not an easy veggie to paint. Too many almost white areas.

Hi everyone, it is St Patricks Day here in NZ 17th March, so here's my St Patrick's Day tribute. Several years ago, my husband and myself, did a weeks bus tour around Ireland, a wonderful experience! (Well it would be with a Surname like Maloney!) My husband bought me this little pendant to remember Ireland and here it is for Ned's List for Shamrock

Hi Ai, Joan and Fletch...

Vivien, your pendant is a super sketch and lovely story.

Ned, cool boots. I like the tones in your sketch and good gesture.

I sketched at my easel finally. A real sketchy one in about 30 minutes total, wipe off to photos. Ha.
Pastels on wiped off sanded paper, I forgot what brand.
Number 1 sugary - Gene's cookies made for our HEB grocery in Bee Caves, TX. About palm of your hand size, individually wrapped but I sketched minus the cellophane. Lazy. I couldn't resist sketching them but didn't want to open them. Gene had eaten the cowboy hat and sunflower.

#2 animal - Used a ceramic panda from my bride’s bear collection. Few grades of graphite in A5ish size sketchbook. Blew the head tilt but still happy with it.

Jo, I like your Texas themed cookies. I'll bet they taste pretty good too.

Fletch, cute sketch of the panda figurine. You caught the pose pretty well and did the texture of the body nicely.

When I used to teach I had socks that I would wear for every holiday. Especially around Christmas the kids would check my socks every day to see what I was wearing. I had a special pair of them for St. Patrick's Day decorated with shamrocks, horseshoes, and post of gold...but no leprechaun. Since I pulled them out to sketch one, they're now on my feet.

11 - free space - watercolors (This is a small cottage/house in an area here called Idlehour. Part of it was an estate belonging to one of the Vanderbilts. The main house became Dowling College. Surrounding that was an area of stables, greenhouses, and tiny buildings that were semi-connected and part of an artists colony. This house is one of the larger buildings in that area and I believe the house is made up of two connected units. Some of them look like they are barely one room, but are cute from the outside. I would love to see what they look like inside and how people made them into homes.)

Joan - LOVE the socks! The house and history are interesting. Have you seen any if the mini-houses that are getting popular? They run like 200-300 sq ft and are really one large room but are full function which means they gave kitchen, bath, place to sit and place to sleep. When we were stationed in New London we bought a 2 bedroom mobile home and it was tight (720 sqft).
