Robin, love your glasses, but the spoon is impressive with the soft details. Yes!
Ai, good to see you traveling to visit friends. It is nice that you could break up the drive with a stop over at the beach. Nice view...and nice capture of it. I like that traditional house sketch. It looks like it should have more traditional architecture around it. I hope the plan isn't to knock it down and build something modern. Oh, those cliffs with the boats in the foreground are great!!! You captured it beautifully! Enjoy the rest of the drive.
Fletch, the greenhouse was done directly in ink since I didn't have a lot of time to play around. I still have the commission to finish and deliver, my cards to make/finish, my tree to put up, etc. Luckily today is a very snowy day so I'm not leaving the house so I should have time to accomplish something. (Although it is 10:15 and I've only done breakfast and laundry.) I like your shading on the kitchen shears...they look serious!
Jo, I'm glad we don't have a fresh tree because of the mess it creates, but I miss the smell of having one. Good job on the glasses and the chain attached.
Yesterday I met the NYC Urban Sketchers at the Metropolitan Museum of Art at the Greek sculpture wing. I started with a sketch of one of the statues and two sketchers sitting and working in front of it. Irene (on the right) was visiting us from Brunei and it was her first time in NYC. Flavia was seated next to her. I had no idea where Brunei was so we checked the internet after meeting her and found out it is a small country on the island of Borneo. It is really nice to meet people from other places and learn more about the world.
Please excuse the nudity.
8 - bench - watercolor pencils (Luckily I brought them because the security made a number of people check the materials they brought to use. They allow dry materials, although the didn't bother any of us who used a water brush with our pencils.)
9 - sub for potted plant (The Met has this gorgeous huge Christmas tree that I've always wanted to sketch. It is very dim in the room which makes sketching difficult there. I tucked myself into a corner where I was hoping the guards wouldn't notice me and used my small watercolor palette.) The tree is adorned with gorgeous angels and surrounded by a huge Neapolitan Nativity scene. I did the best I could sketching in the dark and trying to hold onto my materials and keep the watercolor from dripping off the Moleskin page.
I had about 25 minutes left before show and tell, so I went back to the Greek sculpture and did part of one of the sculptures.
10 - rock/stone - watercolor pencils and charcoal (Why was the charcoal pencil in the middle of my watercolor pencils?)
