Scavenger Hunt #177: 04 - 16 December 2025

Joan - Really like the talk narrow format on the tree. Makes the tree seem tall.

JennieJo - Great job on the Santa mug. The Strut Desert pea-like tinsel is lovely. “I can do this!” Makes me think of the children's book “The Little Engine that Could”. But the closest to that might me Peale’s Power of Positive Thinking but that is more “You can if you think you can.” Which I recently heard modified to “If you think you can or if you think you can’t you are right.” Happy 53rd!!

Jo - Like your wannabe palm 😎

Pine Cone - You know will all be watching for a picture post so you are now committed.🙀

Ai, Ned, Robin, Jade, who am I forgetting? 👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽

Keep sketching and learning
Fletch

Fletch, funny, but I did the tree so narrow to squeeze it on the same page as the lamppost. lol

One of the pleasures of living in Aussie outback..ish area is slow and no internet. I can't upload my coffee cups. Will do the latest sometime today hopefully.
Day 5, the day Christmas decorations go up. Should have gone with my instincts for watercolour. Used left over woodworking film over a tin to get some reflections. Those familiar with Australian wildflowers might just see the Sturt Desert Peas my brain wanted to turn the tinsel into.

Asking for a friend, what optimist said "I can do this!"
Today is my 53rd wedding anniversary. I might just look for some fairy lights that still work and see what I can do.

And following on from Fletch's prompt I've added 2 photos. 1 The Cup that started it all, not as sketched but close. 2 this cup, not the final setup and View attachment 52577View attachment 52578View attachment 52579without the candles, I ran out of time.
Cup 6 ceramic mug leaning, no handles, leaning on the yellow film. Quick 5 minute sketch.

Thanks, all.

Robin, hey there.

Ai, thanks hope you do get to sketch more at the Mall.

Joan, thanks. I'm so behind in everything. The greenhouse sketch is lovely with the shadows under the trees. I was noticing at Lowe's that the real trees were not too dry and cost about the same as the little artificial one I bought. Wish I had see them. We haven't had a real tree in 50 years. Ha.

Pine Cone, take care and we will take the sketches you do anytime. :-)

Hey, JennieJo The ceramic mug is cool. Interesting set up. Applause.

Thanks, Fletch. There are some palms around town but didn't remember any close to where I was.

cs-ggs-gift-tags-front.jpg

The tags...put red ribbon hangers on them, they are about 4 inches in diameter and the back is the solid color with a highlight and reflection so they are a little 3-D. I spray varnished them on the newspaper. The newspaper is one of the last ones I had saved and was from 2019. Couldn't believe it.

Jennie Jo, nice mug to add to your collection.

Jo, I can't remember having a real tree since we were kids. lol If I lived somewhere where I could plant a tree I would buy an actual live potted one and plant it when the holidays were over. I love the gift tags. They are something special that can be kept for years. I smiled that the newspaper was from 2019. The only "newspaper" I ever have around is from the supermarket fliers that arrive each week. Sometimes you just need those papers. lol

Ai, I think most of us are behind on everything this year. Join the club!

JennieJo: Lovely mug.

Joan:
Thanks. Let's take it easy. ... Love your shadow with Christmas tree scene. So warm and happy festive.

Thanks to all y'all. I did have fun with the tags but had to hurry.

Back soon.

Tone and I are heading to the South of Thailand, seeing my friends. We made the first stop at Hua Hin, beach town. Our hotel overlooks the pier. I try to simplify the scene. We will have some more driving to do tomorrow....Done in a 9*11 inch page of Art Creation sketchbook....wc+ pencil
