My first ever oil painting.

Did this 25 years ago when I began painting. I thought I'd paint scenes from a polo club my wife and I used to go to. It's I wanted to paint with just shadows. However, once I discovered art I wanted to try everything. Anyway, here's my version of a polo player. Somehow the feet have been cropped out, they do exist in the original work, oops!

I stopped for around twenty years Jade doing the odd painting now and again. Mainly unfinished as the two below, copy of The Gleaners - Millet and a Highland cow, maybe a few others, but pretty rare.

Don't force it then, I'd say getting feedback here has helped me tho too..

Mayben, those are gorgeous paintings!!
When I lack motivation which is quite often I start working on a small area per day or even per week - as it has been the case this fall - and then I go forward very slow.

Maybe your first but possibly your best. All of these you've posted as well as the family sitting around the room eating, are marvelous paintings. If you had kept it up, no telling where you'd be by now. I hope you do get back to painting.

It sounds like you're finding your way after a lot of change which is understandable. I think it can be healthy to do nothing too at times especially after a lot of busyness. It might feel like wasted time but might be that you're actually"percolating" and decompressing. Nothing wrong with that.

Could be worth gently thinking about what you'd like to do in the future.. no pressure. You're a talented artist but you don't have to paint. Or you could use art as a way to explore what's next... I'd suggest think about what lights you up rather than "have to's".
