Mungyo Gallery Hand-Rolled Pastels?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently visiting someone in California and was looking at ordering a set of soft pastels to keep here, as my Rembrandt sets are too big to transport back and forth. I already have a set of Panpastels here and I brought my pastel pencils, so the sticks would help complete the arrangement.
I'm debating whether to order a 60 or 90 set of Rembrandt half sticks, or a 30 set of Mungyo Gallery hand-rolled. I found all three for decent prices. Per stick, the 90 is the best price. However, when you consider the Mungyos are full sticks, they're a good deal too. I generally like having more colors available, but could make do with the smaller sets as they still have a nice variety.

I'm used to using Rembrandts so there'd be no change there. And the sets contain most of the colors that I'm used to with a few new ones. I've never used Mungyo before. I've read some good reviews on them, but was curious if anyone here has used Mungyo's hand-rolled pastels? How do they compare in terms of hardness/softness? I usually use Rembrandt and Richesons, and I'm assuming these will lie somewhere between as the Richesons are very soft. Has anyone done any lightfast tests on them?

Thanks for any input!

Hi TKHH, I don't have them, but also considered getting the same set a while back. The reviews are excellent and they appear to be similar to Sennelier, but softer than Rembrandt's which I use a lot. The only reason I didn't buy was the cost of import to where I live with few suppliers in EU.
I'm interested in your experiences as I also struggle with a travel set choice etc.
The Mungyo appear to be of high quality and as such should have similar light fastness as Remmy and Sennelier. They have two grades, student and professional, the pro stuff looks very good.

They sound to be surprisingly good for the price. I found the 30 set for $37. Thinking of giving them a go.
Every review I've read has a lot of praise for them. The only remaining question being the lightfastness. They have a few different pastels in their professional line, including the hand-rolled (which I'm most curious about), and square shaped pastels. Those are available for a good price too, though I haven't seen as many reviews for them.

As I was writing this, I did some more digging and finally found their original website and found a lightfastness chart. Looks like that's the only line they currently have lightfastness ratings for. I've attached them in case anyone is interested. Hopefully it's readable. Those stars are kind of small.
