New! Landscape/Cityscape challenge!

What a lovely rendition Rikard! I keep thinking of who you’re reminding me of, and I don’t know if I found them yet but right now you’re reminding me of this post impressionist painter:

Thank you so much Christine. Louis Bellon, what a find :) I've never heard of him. But now I have looked at some of his work. Quite something to aspire to. And I think I know what you mean. He also seems to paint rather direct with not much layering or glazing. Mostly with mid tones as well. Color is central, not so much the values.

I did another watercolour of Tullan Strand, Bundoran.
Water and especially busy water, is one of the things I struggle with a lot.

This time I wanted to use a looser and more spontaneous approach to the sea.

I do think this is a slightly more interesting painting than the previous. But maybe it's too busy? I feel that the sea and sky need to be busy. But maybe the foreground should be calmed down a bit. Lose some of those hard edges? What do you guys think?

Grapes and Rikard, lovely paintings from both of you. It's fun to see how differently artists can paint from the same reference.

Rikard, I find that my eye does go to the foreground. I think it is less a matter of it being busy and more a matter of the high value contrast is there. The next place my eye goes is to the mountain in the background which also has the high value contrast. It all depends on what you want.
