Thank you so much Christine. Louis Bellon, what a find I've never heard of him. But now I have looked at some of his work. Quite something to aspire to. And I think I know what you mean. He also seems to paint rather direct with not much layering or glazing. Mostly with mid tones as well. Color is central, not so much the values.

I did another watercolour of Tullan Strand, Bundoran.
Water and especially busy water, is one of the things I struggle with a lot.

This time I wanted to use a looser and more spontaneous approach to the sea.

I do think this is a slightly more interesting painting than the previous. But maybe it's too busy? I feel that the sea and sky need to be busy. But maybe the foreground should be calmed down a bit. Lose some of those hard edges? What do you guys think?

Grapes and Rikard, lovely paintings from both of you. It's fun to see how differently artists can paint from the same reference.

Rikard, I find that my eye does go to the foreground. I think it is less a matter of it being busy and more a matter of the high value contrast is there. The next place my eye goes is to the mountain in the background which also has the high value contrast. It all depends on what you want.

For me it's the same. I need a lot more practice on waters

Rikard, this is an even stronger painting in my eyes. There’s magic happening in this painting. I feel the mood of the place. I feel the sky and the land are in conversation in a way, with how you’ve done it. And those clouds are beautiful. They are not simply there, but they have their own character. Their own personalities. So uniquely done. There’s a dynamic fluidity to your painting. I like how you let the darks be prominent and the undulating clouds speak to the foreground. The foreground is not washed out. It’s responding to the sky in my mind. You have put life into the scene instead of just rendering it. Very cool style. I agree with Ann. It is very cool to see two beautiful styles depicting a similar landscape from different artists. I would not touch a thing in this painting!
