Everyone's a critic, LOL

I didn't even know that store was there! I kept wishing there was an independent art store nearby, as I miss the little independent I used to shop at back home.

I'm just across the Bay. I'l have to venture over there some time. :)

Thanks, everybody. I have a bunch of articles lining up. Just have to make sure this stays fun and doesn't become a job. And I've already submitted my second column.

I passed on covering gallery openings (too much like society column); they announce them anyway.

What I was seeking was to engage the local public with the people making art, the people behind those people (framers, gallerists, etc.), and how they can enjoy either viewing or even making art themselves. We'll see if I can continue to pull that off.

Ron often introduces me to materials, tools, etc. that other stores don't carry. If they never sell, he can't keep them in stock forever, but he makes a major effort to go beyond the standard stuff and brands you find elsewhere, and his store is the real thing, as opposed to the hobby chain stores around. Yet he makes even the total beginner and the kids feel welcome, excited and empowered to create. It's such a rare combination. It's worth your car trip.

Ron also gives discounts to members of art groups and student classes.

BTW, since you're in our area and we range widely, you might want to consider our Burlingame Plein Air Painters on meetup.com. Don't let the Burlingame fool you, we paint all over the Bay Area and beyond.
