Do you love Creative Spark?

I like it, the people there are nice, but sometimes it gets quiet with not much going on.
I think that this is true of many online art communities today. I have been a member of many such communities since 2002. Almost every community was vibrant with activity then. But, as the years went by, the traffic slowed down on almost every forum that I was part of.

Just in the name of Truth... I post on WC but visit CS sometimes... [...] Moderators did not have to read the private messages, I believe [...] do not blame Doug, the ban was a reaction to active complains, and it was probably not him anyway. He does a terrific job...

Speculation and belief "in the name of truth." Lovely. 😐 We definitely live in a post-truth world, don't we? These people who have been absent for years, coincidentally arrive out of nowhere to bless us with their truth! How fortunate are we?

I feel like carpetbaggers have entered to piss in the punchbowl push an alternative narrative, and I'm kind of being backed into a corner where I need to respond. But if we're really talking about truth, which I dig, then let's dispense with the lame attempts at user-poaching and blatant (and probably requested) apologist posts and deal with the truth. The truth is exciting! The truth will set you free!

Doug (Yorky) was the problem, along with other moderators, but most definitely, and without a doubt, Doug (Yorky). You can praise Saint (Yorky) and kiss the ring over there under the blanket, but it's not necessary here, because he can't hurt anyone here. He weilds no empty online 'power' here. He can't be a vindictive asshole a creep here. The way he was (and still is, no doubt - a fascist power-hungry leopard can't change its spots) under the wet blanket.

And, oh boy, you should see the pile of private messages I have here corroborating Ayin's unbearably shitty unpleasant experiences at the hands of the wet blanket goon mod squad. If you think it was just Ayin, that they were singled out, and you'll be okay, think again. Doug (Yorky) will come for you when he feels the whim, and there won't be anything you can do about it. If what I've been hearing is just the tiny tip of the iceberg, then Doug (Yorky) was/is widely despised disliked under the blanket.

That's the truth. If it's a bitter pill for the wet blanket cult to swallow, well, he's made it clear you're welcome back there. I mean, you can stay here too. You just can't peddle bullshit engage in revisionist history.

This thread wasn't meant to be about wet blanket. I'm surprised it's still there. It's about someone carrying on the alternative to that pathetic, moldy rag shell of a site. About someone maintaining something better than that other mess that used to be something of value. If they do, hallelujah.

The attempted gaslighting in this thread is a perfect example of why an alternative is always needed. To everything. Even to Creative Spark. 🙃

The truth will set you free!

(Note that no one defending wet blanket or posting the addresses of other forums has been banned or otherwise prevented from speaking, and this thread remains open. Because Creative Spark isn't run by cowards and weirdos. Okay, we are weirdos. But not cowards. I don't think. Are we? Maybe we are. It's hard to read the label from inside the bottle.)

My negative experience was not just about the crappy interface/forum software. It was also the attitude of the moderators.
As this was at the time the site was in the beginning stages of going tits up (remarkably that proces seems to be ongoing) I chalked it up to the stress they were under and moved on. I am getting the impression it wasn't the only reason. I can do without that kind of drama, so I won't give WC another go.

Anyway, I hope this site will continue (I'm just getting my art mojo back after a bit of a slump). I vastly prefer the forum format over facebook groups and related social media.

My heartfelt thanks goes out to Ayin, Hannah and all the others who modded and helped out here, and that includes all the contributing members. Thank you. It's been a wonderful part of my life and a great inspiration for me. I hope that somehow it will continue here.

Don’t be shy, Hannah! Tell us what you really think! 🤣 (Just teasing you, so please don't get upset!)

I wish you and Ayin all the best in the future! ❤️
