It's mostly about infantilism in people who have disability. As someone with selective mutism, I've dealt with infantilism for years, and it made my self-esteem drop drastically. I thought of myself as inferior, a subhuman, and worse, an animal that isn't capable of thinking.

It helps to think that these people may not know how to deal with disabled people, so they choose the safest option. Thought, it's not an excuse to disrespect people and be ignorant. This mindset helps me not to spite them and my past. What matters is that now I know that I'm a capable human being.
 
This is such a powerful image and I admire your honesty about the struggles you have endured. Not only are you a capable human being but you are a very capable artist!
 
Amazing piece! I'd say that anyone who doesn't have, or have a close loved one with a disability, has a hard time understanding the effect of their ignorance. Thank you for sharing this. It's important.
