Your pencil drawings are excellent
Ps your 2b's get dark! My 6b doesn't seem to reach that level..

Jade, thank you! 2B won't do it, you need HB additionally. That's exactly the dark l get to the real drawing - it's not only the photo. If my paper was real good I would get it even darker but this is a sketch paper and breaks quite fast so at some point I must stop and call it done. Also, pencils need to be real sharp and need to sharpened every 5 min to reach dark enough.

This penguin is quite sketchy and was not so much work. I'm spending lazy moments of the afternoons drawing these wonderful references meanwhile watching series/documents on tv. That's how they get done.
What I lack the most in my penguin is the work on the light areas which would mean 2H but I was was too lazy to open the drawer and pick up my H's. Instead I used 2B for the lights. Maybe for the next one.

I could never work on art and concentrate on TV! We watch a lot of very complex and foreign language series before bedtime, and I often fall asleep. So I can barely follow them at times, let alone work on a painting.

The shading is fine, with a great range of values.

Not my best drawing but here we go...
Found it hard to get the blue tinged fur right with my arteza pencils...
Though I was quite pleased with the colour.
I might go over it again...

Jade, good work done on both the cat and penguin . You worked on his feet, too! I got lazy at that point and left them blanco. I noticed the penguin is perfect to practice values and dark accents.
