I just discovered him. What a fantastic talent. I find so much inspiration from his work, it's powerful.

Any fans?

:)

I forgot about him for a few weeks then remembered this thread and recalled how moved I am by a lot of his paintings.

Yes, I am always astonished how young some very influential artists and composers were when they died. Here is just a short list.

Pergolesi 26
Schiele 28
Schubert 31
Seurat 32
Mozart 35
Modigliani 36

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

So...much...blue...
Yes... and much 'void' too
Making a gallery show with nothing was also one of his accomplishment ...
He named that: La spécialisation de la sensibilité à l’état matière première en sensibilité picturale stabilisée, Le Vide (The Specialization of Sensibility in the Raw Material State into Stabilized Pictorial Sensibility, The Void) (wikipedia) ...
A bit too conceptual and repetitive for me.
Captain, I would suggest you also look at Malevitch squares which 'speak' far more to me than the Klein's works (just my opinion of course) ;-)

I hadn’t heard of Kazimir Malevich until now. I enjoyed quite a few of his works, thanks for sharing!

I still enjoy quite a few Klein works though.

Oh Captain, you might like Pierre Soulages who has produced some of the most beautiful non figurative paintings of the 20th century

Yes, I like it a lot. It's reminiscent of Franz Kline, but darker imo.
