It's certainly a nice painting... from one of Picasso's most admired/attractive periods... but not one of his best. The prices of high-end art have little to do with the aesthetic merit of the works and much more to do with the artist's biography and position in the history of art, the subject matter, previous owners, whims of the marketplace, etc... Yet again, I think it is a very nice painting... one of his paintings leaning closer toward the work of Matisse... and quite modern and stunning looking considering it is almost 100 years old.

the watch seems so out of his oeuvre. Also, watches are generally displayed in advertisements with the hands at 10:10. In The Woman with a Watch - they're set at ten-to-two - same position but with hour and minute hands switched. I guess Picasso looked at an advertisement for reference but didn't pay attention to which was the hour/minute hand.

Fun fact - Picaso's original title for the piece was "Woman with Light Blue Tit".
