So many thoughts. Catching so much. Love the way you've created the image.
Awww…perfection! Very “crisp” compositionally and so for me…it’s satisfying. The couple is really well done and of course I (still) love her hair. His face is soooo good too…especially with the color choices you made and in that sort of color block style. Her (almost hidden) hand was a surprise. Yep…what love!!
I like West Valley Fiction, too. Lots to look at and to wonder about with the little girl. Interesting shapes of the (odd)ball, the big right eyes, the trees. I love the little notch in the white fence and for some weird reason…the base of the tree on the far right. I was hoping that would stay as I watched this progress…and it did! Because it’s gray, it looks like a metal tube that the tree is growing from, like a tree can. A can of trees. Not sure why, but that tiny mark made me happy.
Did you say these snap shot paintings were going into a future show? How many more do you have left to do? What’s the theme of the show? Are you feeling good about them….? (Cuz you should.)
Ha ha, thank you, Christine. You're too nice. I'm a fan of your work as well. Thank you for your amazing comments. These are all incredible compliments! You know I am a bonifide fan of your very original work. Here’s another winner! Somehow you made a straightforward portrait a couple very interesting. It makes me appreciate artists who do not just slavishly follow a photograph (which I have done a great deal). I mean, in that case, why not just stick to a photo? This demonstrates how an artist can add something more to just a representational painting of photograph. Seeing what you do always makes me think deeper on the subject. Which is an amazing thing to be able to do as an artist. I also enjoy the different textures between the background and the people. Love it!
Funny you should say that, Donna. I sometimes hate when I outline. This one turned out well with it, but it was a pain in the ass, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to outline the whole thing. Once I outlined the couple, I felt I had to outline the stripes, too. I also had fun painting the picture on the wall. What you said about how the shapes are enhanced without drawing too much attention is a great compliment. Thank you!Wow, you have been busy! I love this one and the feeling of comfort and familiarity you created. The bowling trophies and the clock are such nice touches. You have such a gift for design and the stripes contrast so perfectly with the traditional picture on the wall. I wish I had your knack for using outlines. They work so well in your work and always enhance the shapes without calling attention to themselves.
Thank you, JennyJo. I so appreciate you.So many thoughts. Catching so much. Love the way you've created the image.
Wow, thank you, Wayne; I'm blushing again! I'm so glad you like it, and the composition was everything with this one. So thank you kindly!Ayin,
I like the way the background is part of the hug. All encased in one moment or movement. That's a real fine composition. Your uniqueness is the candle on the cake.
Thank you, John. I appreciate your insights, always!Great work Ayin. I see six separate paintings. The clock, two trophies, the floral, the portrait and the background abstract. Super cool.
Thank you very much, Bart. This one moved me, Ayin. Well done!
Thank you Jade.Really cool Ayin![]()

The knife! Adds even more layers..Thank you, Olive. Yes, they are going into a show called "Discarded Snapshots" in May 2026. In fact, I believe I may post the original pictures next to each painting on the wall. Part of me doesn't want to do that in fear of people comparing the painting to the picture and seeing my terrible realism skills.
I THOUGHT OF YOU while outlining her hair. LOL! I did it very carefully to keep it as I initially drew it with the loop-de-loops. Not too many people notice her hand with the knife. Thank you for noticing it, but I did want it to be super subtle. And thanks for your comments on West Valley Fiction. If you're talking about the two trees behind the girl, those are cypress trees. We once lived in a house where they bordered the front yard.
