What are you up to?

Kay - great photos!! Looks like you had good weather and the scenery is amazing - both landscape and from in town. How fun it looks! Glad you had a good time and good weather. ❤️

TK H-H - love the shots of the kitties! They look so sweet and happy. They'll be in your lap before you know it. ;)

Kaido's already become a lap cat. He took a nap against my chest earlier. Just have to win over Kishka now!

Well I had an eventful week. :)

Got married on the 8th. Which was also our 10th year anniversary, so an extra special day for us. Then we spent the week exploring Arizona. Went to a botanical garden, an aquarium, golfing, an art gallery, a comedy show, a zoo, butterfly conservatory (got lots of photos I want to paint)... Had lots of fun.

A neat discovery at the gallery... They had a Claude Monet. I'm not a big Monet fan, but it was still cool to see.

Congratulations on getting married! I’m glad you got lots of good photos on your trip to Arizona.

Thanks everyone :)

It's been a rough few weeks for me. I've done no art whatsoever. Been really stressed out about a number of things. To make it worse, our cat went missing 3 days ago when a family member let him out and the two of us were losing our minds, not sleeping, barely eating. Thankfully we got him back last night. We had set up a camera with motion detector out front the day he got out, in hopes we'd get a sighting at some point. We left the door open most of the time in hopes he'd come back. But for 3 days, zero sighting. Checked all our footage and no sign of him. We went out searching several times each day and night and no luck. We paid for two ad campaigns for him, put up posters everywhere, notified all vets, shelters, rescues, pet shops, etc. in the region. The local church did an announcement for us. We talked to the local mail deliverers to have them keep an eye out. Made several online postings on every search service we could find. Everything we could think of.

We decided to shut the door around 10pm last night and finally try to have dinner. While I was dishing up dinner, the alert went off on my husband's phone and he started waving frantically at me from the living room because the motion detector went off and the recording showed it was our cat. I peeked outside but he had left. We left the door open again so we could watch, and he came sneaking back again. It took over an hour of trying to lure him with food, treats, his favorite toys... But we finally got him to creep inside and slammed the door quick.

He was spooked for a while. I sat a few feet away from him and talked to him a bit and he suddenly perked up and came right up to me for a pet. Picked him up and got instant purrs. He was back to his cuddly self from that point on. We're so happy to have him back. He seems happy to be back too. :)

Goodness, it was terrifying!
That was always one of my biggest worries, losing a cat. We were so stressed not knowing where he was. He's immunocompromised too, so we were worried for his safety. Especially given there's a colony of about 50 ferals around our home (both our kitties were taken in from that colony).

We quickly noticed that night that he was following the little Siamese cat that frequents our front door. Each time the Siamese came back, he was just behind him. So we were using him to track roughly where Kaido was.

So, so happy he's back. We gave him a good bath last night to get the mud out of his fur. He's nice and clean and fluffy now. :)

I’ve always taken good care of my cats, but I have had them get out before. And I think sometimes they’ve been catnapped by someone in the neighbourhood for a few days before being released. Other times they weren’t too far. I kept hearing sightings of my male cat on the street, even close to our place. And when he came back over a week later, I was worried about him, he was happy as a clam after he settled back in. Now he was fixed. But I think he chose to go out there and face some of the other cats in the neighbourhood. Years ago, he had been found on the streets, in excellent condition I might add. He didn’t look too worse for wear this time either, he looked satisfied. Smug. But I remember when he came home he suddenly arrived at the patio door, and I opened it and called him in, but he was acting a bit reluctant. He was just acting a little more feral. He slowly walked in, slowly, looked around behind him as he left the “wild“behind. Looking around slowly and almost acting like he was coming back to recognizing us, like he was slowly coming out of a trance. And then at some point, he just clicked. It’s like he came back to being a domestic cat. He fully recognized us and he was not a street cat in his mind looking always to protect himself or looking to see what was around the next corner. Then he started walking confidently and went over to his food bowl and accepted pets.
