I like being able to see the brush strokes and this one has a nice variety. It will be a great scene to play around with again. Have you ever soaked your brushes in Murphy Oil Soap? Sometimes I soak my dried up brushes for a few days and it really does loosen the paint.

I clean acrylic paint with alcohol. Softens it up for me.

I found a pic of a painting in public domain and decided to use it to make my own version of an abstract landscape .. can't remember the artist but it was post impressionism I think.

That’s pretty cool! It does have an abstract look and those are some juicy strokes of paint. Does this have marble dust mixed in?

Thank you. Yes. I mixed my medium with dust so now my medium and the dust are one. It saves considerable time when you paint.

I soaked my brushes for for or five hours in soap and water and they gave up the pint. Workable again.

Thanks Donna. Not for a few weeks yet. I think I have a handle on it. I do miss being able to mix more puddles to choose from but I find the paint along the edges gets hard fast and you have to be careful not to get it in your paint. I think I will need a razor scraper to deal either way that problem as my painting wife is not sharp enough. I am suppose to get my paint retarder tomorrow so that will be more trial and error.

I'm going to call this thread dead in the water as to me the experimenting on characteristics of acrylic paint is complete to a point I can move on. I think I have a good enough handle on acrylic paint to forget about it's characteristics and simply paint. The only thing left is the paint retarder and I'm not worried as to how that will work. One or two paintings to see if it works or fails and on we go from there. Not sure I like the way the paint lifts if it's in the drying process and you go over it with any force. I guess I just need to be lighter on the hand and use my brushes instead of a knife.

Mix half cold water and half glycol and use 1/7 to 1 of paint. Mixing now and will test it tomorrow.
