11 x 14 inches .. acrylic on paper .. alla prima .. painted 30/09/25 .. experimenting with painting upside down so I omit a lot of detail and get a lot of grey areas .. seems to make things more life like while not in photo perfect likeness. I think the trend was late 20th century by some German artist. I find it rather lovely in technique as I paint more abstractly and don't pay attention to perfection in form.

Love it Wayne. The first art book I got in April when I started "arting" again was "drawing on the right side of your brain" where she recommended this and I really enjoyed it. It gives a different quality to this painting. I love the texture of the flowers too 💐

Thanks Jade. The first experiment was the bluebird on my window sill and I really like the abstract quality it led to. I have played with this off and on over the last 20 years. Strange how things keep being recycled.

Your painting is a great endorsement for the upside down technique. I need to try it so I’ll focus less on what things are and more on the shapes - that make or break a painting.
