Painting today at Pillar Point Harbor in Princeton by the Sea (Half Moon Bay, CA). 12x9" watercolor and ink on paper; 6x9" watercolor and ink on paper. B. Charlow 2025.

These are really enjoyable to me, especially the first. It is just so fresh looking, well composed, and with just enough info to get your "message" to the viewer. I dearly wish I could paint with such abandon.
 
I like the loose, relaxed look of the first one too. The second one is also very nice but those boats are wonderful.
 
The boats are just full of action and life. The warmth in the second is very inviting, especially as we are in a cold couple of days.

First one did exactly what I intended. Not easy to simplify a whole marina scene at all. Just wanted fresh, stylized and simple.

The reason for these was that I felt I had fallen into a rut with my regular paintings, so decided to go back to WC & ink, which I can do very quickly and expressively. My pastels had fallen too much into a predictable pattern. Needed to force a breakout.
