Sri Kandaleeswarar Temple at Thenneri

This is the Sri Kandaleeswarar Koil at Thenneri, built by Sembiyan Mathevi over a 1000 years ago, in memory of her son Uthamar Chozhan. This is now an Archaeological Survey of India monument and no worship takes place there. My wife and I visited this place in 2018 along with a group of heritage enthusiasts The actual colours of the structure were different, but I deliberately used these colours to draw attention to the vimanam (i.e. the tower over the innermost sanctum of a South Indian temple).
