Scavenger Hunt from Life #31: July 9 – July 17
Welcome to the Scavenger Hunts from Life.
The Hunts were started in 2006 by Jamie Williams Grossman as a way to practice with prompts. Artists have come and gone while forming some lasting friendships. We hope you will join in and tune up your sketching skills. All levels and techniques are welcome. We hope you can have some good times here. You can travel the world seeing the sketches of items at hand by the artists.

If you’ve participated in at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one we would really appreciate it. You can sign up by posting your name on the current hosting schedule in the Art From Life forum here:
https://creativespark.art/threads/scavenger-hunt-from-life-host-sign-up-list.2481/

Here are the rules for the Hunt:
*All everyday common items on the list must be sketched from life – not imagination or photo reference.
*Each object you draw can count for only one item on the listless, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed on by unanimous vote among the participants.
*You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count these objects as separate items, but no single object can count for more than one item.
*All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.
*Do as many or as few of the items as you like. You don’t have to finish the entire list to participate. The Scavenger Hunt “week” will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.
*Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you for each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are welcome.
*Have fun!
*** If you have some hunt sketches completed but little time to read/comment, please post your sketches anyway. Commenting is appreciated but not required

Cheers,

Joan: Wonderful works, love people in the market and the super beach scene. The triangular cabin is very nice too.

Joe1: Great free flow lines... Keep them rolling.

EP: Fun and fantastic sets. Love kitchen tongs for triangular... the liquid and solid soap are great too.

Ai, such a great ball so round and in your hand! And first sketch. Yay. Oooh and the purple juice. Cool.

Joan, the folks on the beach worked perfectly for your list!! Great sketch. I like the shed and fence. Always wonderful direct for fences. The people buying veggies and such is so good, even a baby. Whoot!

joe1lt, you have some great lines. I like the parts of foliage. The bottle has great lines.

Hi, EP, I like the grouping a lot. Great job on the tongs. Yummy colors. Your two soaps make a nice composition. I'm smiling.

I sketched a couple of times in the big book and the travel sketchbook. Used a Micron 03 and a Pilot ballpoint pen.
1. health - the eye doctors office again. I thought you might like to see a photo. Different than most office waiting rooms.
2. keeps you cool - arm socks of some sort of cool stuff for Gene's arms when he is out in the sun
3. liquid - Refresh eye drops for the eyes

Jo: Fantastic line sketches. Love your doctor office... those curve ceilings are challenging to draw, you did very well. Nice eye drop bottle.

Ai - thank you. Fun Koolaid
Jo - thank you. Great job on the Refresh eyedrops and thanks for the photo. Do you have a link for those keep-cool-arm-sock things?

Ai- I like the liveliness of this. The sketchy lines in warm colors seem to give it life. Like the shades of purple on the juice but curious how you drink out of a square glass?

Joan - As always your people are spot on but what really got me was the picket fence spacing. I know you are doing these direct and plein air and the evenest of the spacing really caught my eye.

Joe1 - Like the varied line quality especially in the two hats

EP - Nice hatching on the Tupperware lid. Tongs are great and good ellipses on the can. Two kinds of soap made me grin. Thinking solid soap and liquid soap by the sink..Decisions ... Decisions. 😁

Jo - As always like your hatch work. You use it so well to show texture and form.

Keep sketching
Joe
