Scavenger Hunt from Life #189: Apr 27 - May 9

Hi Fletch, take care and drop in when you can. Life takes time!

Joan, the outdoor scene is great. I like you included the stop sign. I often forget details like that. They add so much to the story. Lovely colors and depth.

Jo, thanks! I like putting in stop signs and telephone poles and wires too.

Joan - I like how you capture depth of field in wc. The trees look so pretty. Was going to say the outdoor scene almost looks like part of a story. Then read Jo say exactly that. Think Jo has it…the finishing details . Lighthouse is soo very you.

Robin - waves. Thanks for blessing.

Ai - You so make me regret my inability to visit Thailand. Glass factories, dozens of interesting cafes with beautiful food, temples, and statues.

Jo - Great use of PT time.

Pine Cone -Thank you.

Think most of you know Sharon has Multiple Sclerosis. What she has is called Primary Progressive (PPMS). So just slowly progresses. She can no longer walk but with aid can still stand abit. Thanks again to all for wishes and blessings.

Joan, as Fletch says, the lighthouse is so you and this one is so beautiful a scene. Rich and full of action. I can feel the water and grasses sway in a breeze.

No sketching today forgot my stuff. Then baseball tonight so..... Maybe I'll get Larry to sketch with me tomorrow .... or take a fancy photo.

Fletch, thanks for your comments on my work...always nice to have it appreciated. Hope you and Sharon are both doing OK. I know it isn't easy for either of you. All the best!

Jo, thanks so much. It was good to get back and sketch the lighthouse. I haven't had much time to get over that way lately. Trips to the beach always make me smile. I hope you get to sketch with Larry. It is nice to share something like that with someone.

I'm heading over to NJ today to visit my sister, Michelle. I haven't seen her in quite a while. I'm hoping the two of us can do some sketching together. She doesn't do much of it any more. See everyone later. Have a good day.

Robin, super sketch of the dirty dishes! Who knew we would be excited about those. lol I like your sketch of the window view but especially that little table with the mug, glasses and tablet. I like how you are using ink with some of the lines in that sketch, but not all.

I did get in one sketch yesterday, but my sister didn't sketch. She just hasn't been inspired to sketch lately. We also did a little bit of walking since Borough Park in her town has a nice walking path with benches along the way so you can sit when you're tired.

6 - rocks - watercolors and ink
7 - has legs (deer in the background)

Joan, thanks to you as well. Lovely park scene. Made me smile with the deer, we saw two this morning as well toward the still mostly dry ponds.

Robin, I love your hashmarks as always. Joan is right, exciting dirty dishes! Fun finds on your items.

Today was Monday but also a Thai national holiday... So I could go in the city, to sketch our Lumpini Park (our version of Bangkok Central Park) to celebrate its 100 years as well as join in the global Urban sketcher week (May 1-7).
I did two sketches.

#6 A group of trees...pencil and wc

Jo, thanks. It was hard to see the deer clearly across the stream. There were two of them hiding over there.

Ai, so glad you got to sketch for International Urban Sketchers Week. It was nice for you to have a holiday and have time to paint in the park. Both sketches are good but I'm partial to the one with the bridge and the temple structure. Nice!!

Yesterday I headed out east where there are a lot of plant nurseries like this one.
8 - collection of plants - watercolors

Joan: Thanks so much... Love the nursery with all kinds of plants and flowers. Great catch of a dear in the background. Beautiful grass texture by the beach.

Robin: Lovely ink in read sketch. Nice view out by the window.

:) I wasn't going to do "rocks or boulders" but that's where I was today and I had my pocket sketchbook in my pocket. Two drops of dark ink fell on it, was able to partly blot them off. Beth and I were talking earlier about May Day and May poles so I had 5/1 on my mind and wrote the wrong date :)

#1 rocks

Ned, I'm glad to see you didn't disappoint me and posted some impressive rocks. Yay!!

Dinner tonight in honor of Cinco de Mayo was assorted tacos from Fat Boys Burrito Company.
12 - edible - watercolors and ink

Joan: Awesome, Cinco de Mayo celebration sketch... so juicy and spicy colors, esp. the lime wedge. Cool pair of trees. I did our tacos night but did not sketch...lol

Ned: What can I said about your sketches... You Rock !!! Thanks for sharing the force of inspiring nature.

Ai, sounds like a perfect 100 year celebration. I like the colorful tree and the bridge scene is a piece of history.

Joan, your collection of plants is so good. The dark trees really set the plants off. Love the marine service shop. Thanks for the flag.

I sketched at PT holding the pens in my hand. I decided not to add in my hand, ha. Number 5 used for my art - Ohuhu pens in the Ohuhu Mix Media sketchbook. No color needed all in black and white. Ohuhu 0.7 pen used. About 20-25 minutes.

I didn't hit post reply last night but it was still here. Wow.

Joan I like the pair of trees, lovely setting. The tacos are wonderful! Make me hungry so I'm having a chocolate from Peru. Sublime. We first ate them in Bolivia back in 1974. Nestle bought the company fairly recently in comparison but the candy is the same. Milk chocolate with peanuts. So good. Improved wrappers. I get them on Amazon.

Ned your rocks are so nice. You make me want to be by the ocean for the views. Hard to get the dates right sometimes. I also make errors in my numbering.

Ai, we don't eat anything special or think much about Cinco de Mayo here. Gene's brother used to always send us a photo of a bathroom sink with a jar of mayonnaise in it. Sink-o-de Mayo. Ha.
