Ned, never hear of Zopf. Your bread looks scrumptious. I did make Challah a couple of times when we lived in Bolivia. It looks so pretty. It tasted good as well. I hadn't heard of Abacus as a company and today saw an ad for Abacus Plumbing in Austin twice. Made me smile. I like your building and lines. Lots of work. The barometer is so interesting and well drawn. Applause.
Ai, yes your iron is striking. Clever on the Rubic's cube and fun line hand. Your outdoor scene at the cafe looks great. You have so many interesting eating spots.
Joan, the parking space has great cold feeling with a bit of light on the pile of snow. Mmmm. Your vehicles are always good. Super barber shop.
Robin, I love the jalepeño material. Is that a plastic bag holder? Your iron looks pretty old, need to heat it on the stove, right?? I like your climbing plant.
Gene has a long dental visit tomorrow, I will try to sketch. The dentist prepares, makes and installs a crown in a couple of hours. So nice not to have to have a temporary for a couple of weeks.

Robin -- yay, I was hoping someone would do jalapeños! The leaves on the house plant look really cool, really like that.
Jo -- Thanks. The zopf is good, best one I've made so far. The way I made it is close to challah but milk instead of water which makes the texture different. First game is a week from Friday!

and I know this looks really weird but it might look interesting when I print it. Or maybe it will be a mess or kooky or crazy, we'll see.
I put a sheet protector over the sketch and used the grey posca again:
If the ink dries before a section is filled in, the posca scratches it off instead of adding on top of it!
I used some black ink to fill where that happened.
So today I learned that I need to work kind of fast for this.

Robin, is that fabric/towel with a jalapeño design? Cool! Nice heavy-looking iron. Love the houseplant.
Ned, the zopf looks delicious. You are obviously a good baker! The original sketch of the hand looks great. Hard to tell what the print will look like. It will be interesting to see. Have fun.

My sketch group met at the library last night and our theme was fruit. I brought along an assortment of what I had at home. The sketch is a substitute for calamondin which when I looked it up it said it was a small tart orange. I hope that was correct. lol

JoCWOW surprised you could tell what it was!! I hope you enjoy your time sketching in the waiting room.
Joan - great fruit sketch. those cherries look so real, soft and ripe. Somehow the bending shrub in the seaside sketch make a underwater feel....interesting sensation. lovely sketch, The barber got pretty friskee with the spiral motif!!
Ai - the space man toy makes me smile...I love the serious face he's making-stealing it for a desktop....love the way you completely filled the page with bridge and dwelling in background....
Ned....still waiting for the bread sketch...What kind of print stuff are you doing? paint that stuff on the paper and then moisten a paper and press together to make print? Looks like fun!!! Can't remember what call when you paint on glass and then place paper on it for prin..yeah,....monoprint.....Is this similar process? Great job on Abacus. I like the contrast of red and grey....

Ned, your hand is amazing. Lovely gesture and shadows. The print is fun ... seems like work! Yes we get a game on Friday as well. I'm excited but we won't get to go to games this year. Parking and driving at night, etc. Hook 'em Horns!

Robin, I recognized the plastic bag holder immediately. My Mom-in-law used to make them. I haven't found one for this house and of course too lazy to make one. They are great!
We went to the dental appointment and it is for next Thursday. The nice guy that checks us in said that he thought it was his fault as he just told us Thursday and didn't mention it was Thursday, February 12. Maybe he was just being nice and I got it wrong. Ha. So we came home and had pizza on the porch. Lovely day. I sketched while we were out. Same old view minus the water! We need a gully washer of rain.
Number 1 outdoors - off the porch view in the large Canson Mixed media sketchbook with Micron 02 and watercolors
Number 2 person - Gene on his indoor bike. Doesn't look much like him but in defense I'll say he was moving! Same sketchbook with the Micron 02.

Ai -- I like the kooky space girl, and neat that you used CP from Kivirin. Kivrin was before my time.
Joan -- the fruit are great, I especially like the apple. A long time ago I was at the "big game" between Cal and Stanford with my dad. My dad went to Stanford, and we were there early, so we walked around the campus. He showed me his old dorm and different things he remembered. In one sunny protected courtyard there were beautiful old small citrus trees growing. I'd never heard of it, but there was a sign saying they were calamondin that had been brought from overseas and planted a long time before. Always stuck in my head since then. I'd like to try growing one. Blue shadows! I like the omelette.
Robin, thanks. The prints are on light sensitive paper, like a blueprint. I put the "negative" on it and then put it in the sun for a few minutes to make the print, They are usually blue, but you can make other colors by soaking them in different "toners" like tea.
Jo -- I'm with Joan, the view feels familiar now, but I love seeing it and wouldn't get tired of it either! I'm going to spend the night in a motel and go Friday night and Saturday. I don't like to drive at night either, especially that late. By the time the game is over, it's after my bedtime!
Back later with some things from today...

This morning I googled "elephant sonoma county" and these life-sized statues appeared. They are at the community center in the town of Sonoma, so I drove over there to see them. My sketch came out kind of cartoonish, but that's okay, it was fun. I saw a cork oak at the Sonoma plaza too, a neat old tree.
