Robin: Thanks for the cool list.

JennieJo: Fantastic colorful sketches of flowers on a table and the car to start this Hunt.

Robin, thanks for the new list.

JennieJo, I like your vase of flowers on the table. Nice color combination. I like that we can look inside the car. Nice!

1 - free space - direct watercolor (Done today while sitting in my mobile studio while it was drizzling.)

Thanks Joan. Was having a coffee break on the roadside brash and I was thinking there a more comfy seat down there.

Thank you. My secret, I avoid sketching. I have to force myself to do it for a project, and yet I have dozens of sketch books. Your works alway inspire me to think "maybe today I will do some live sketching! "

Before it started raining I took a ride over to the South Shore Mall Carnival.
2 - something hanging (seats on the Orlando) - watercolors and ink
3 - advertisement for cotton candy
4 - bigger than a house (ferris wheel)

JennieJo - “pencil, ink, pen and pastel” that is truly multimedia and nicely done. Love the flowers and, as joan said, seeing inside the car.

Joan - It looks strange to see your work without a touch of pen augmenting the detail.

#1 hand - drawn in pocket sketchbook using multiple grades of graphite.

Joan, you posted while I was writing. Now the carnival looks more like classic Joan style. 👍🏽

Thanks Fletch. I think differently, depending on what is in my hand :)

Done quickly in the moment before hopping to the workplace's van, back from annual work seminar back to home in Bangkok. We had our retreat/seminar at a hotel on of Pattaya... another Thai popular tourist seaside town east of Bangkok.

I did them both in directwatercolor as I will reshare them with June's event of 30x30Directwatercolor on FB.. ... I still owe them many pieces from June1-June4...
#1 view from above... I was sitting on the high rock fence overlook the Thai coastgard office by the bay

#2 tools .... yellow buoys and boats are tools of the coastgards, and fishermen respectively.

Yeah... I am back to our Bangkok home for work seminar by Pattaya beach. Its too bad not so much opportunity to sketch on the second day. I just got a short moment to do some more sketching from our hotel balcony before checking out. These two sketches were done at location in under 15 minutes...

#3 bigger than a house ... the other hotel

#4 make sound ... a splash from someone who went thru a slider into a lazy river... pencil sketch at location, brushpen coloring at home.

Thanks Robin for the Hunt that’s well underway. The sketches make me smile. Jennie Jo fun to see you. Joan fantastic direct stuff especially the carnival. Ai, super that you found time to sketch.. love the boats and slider. Fletch, nice handy hand.

Fletch, thanks for your comments. It is fun to try to capture things without ink lines added at some point. I really have to force myself to not touch the pen. lol That's a lot of negative shading around your hand. How large is the paper you are working on?

Ai, nice work on the direct watercolors. They look so fresh! Fun quick sketches from the balcony. I can imagine the sounds of the people going down the slide.

Jo, thanks. I looked at the carnival scene and knew I couldn't possibly do it in direct watercolor. I had a hard enough time sketching it out in pencil since there was so much going on...but I persevered.

Joan: Thanks... love your super Carnival... so fun and so much challenging nooks for you.

Jo: Thanks.

Fletch: Wonderful hand sketch in graphite.

Ai - well done on the beach scenes. Love you are being creative even in choosing the objects. In my brain “tool” would be something you can hold like a hsmner or a screwdriver, but in fact the yellow things and the boats are tools of their trades. The 2sketches in 16 minutes are great.

Joan - that is a pocket sketchbook that I keep by my recliner. It is 3.5x5.5 inches.

Keep sketching and learning

Gene slept in and I was up early so had my rice cake and coffee on the porch with the Conda sketchbook, regular paper. I was going to do a continuous line and thought of the Sharpie for that. Wrong paper, I did the scissors first and the Sharpie bled through so did the hand above the bleed on the next page with a Micron 03.
Number 1 scissors - the carpet scissors, black and yellow handles.
Number 2 hand - doing the Hook 'em Horns symbol.

Ai, thank you. I ran out of space and couldn't include the whole carnival. lol

Fletch, small sketchbooks are good to keep handy. I like that size.

Jo, those scissors look like they could cut just about anything. Nice hand sketch.

These snippets are from a painting I started by the water in Babylon today. I didn't get to finish it, but will do more work on it to pull the whole thing together.
5 - vehicle - watercolors

6 - table - watercolors

7 - chairs - watercolors

Robin -- thanks for the list!

JennieJo -- I like the colors in those.

Joan -- bold colors in the first two! Like the "snippets"!

Ai -- those seaside paintings are great. That first one just has a great feeling to it. Fun quick sketches!

Fletch -- nice shading, good lines and tone by your thumb!

Jo -- made me laugh with the longhorns sign.. nice job on the shears.

Got out for a hike this morning and brought my pocket sketchbook... need to get back to my daily hikes after all the recent travels and
goings-on ( my wife Beth just retired, her last day was Friday! Daughter is home! ) I've sketched this place a couple times before and always "ran out of room" with the scale/proportions all wrong so I tried a quick pencil outline first... sorta kinda helped. The fishing boat was there while I was sketching but looks like it was gone by the time I snapped a photo...
