Out in Pacifica, CA, at Rockaway Beach with the plein air group today. Fabulous weather and some great paintings.
First was an experiment in Neocolor that I'm not fond of. 9x12" on paper.

Second I'm happier with. Watercolor and ink on 10x7" Arches paper.

The close up is a bit rough. The watercolor is beautiful.

I agree with Jo's assessment. But it could work as a preliminary to be developed into a more in-depth painting, if you thought it worthwhile.

I don't rework my paintings. Probably should but have never really improved any doing that as the initial inspiration is lost back home. Were I to rework that first painting, I think I would rather work in an opaque medium, such as gouache or acrylics.

Agreed - I should clarify, I meant using the piece as a kind of reference point.

Nice work Bart. I like the second one much better. The water is really nicely done.
