He makes me want to try my hand at still life painting, perhaps a vase with flowers. It will probably end up looking like the portrait of a black cat hiding in a coal bin.
I quite like his paintings... and suspect he was one of my influences during the years when I was working in a subdued palette on collages:

However, I loved saturated color too much and returned to it after seeing an exhibition of the paintings by the Venetian Renaissance masters (Titian, Giorgione, Bellini, Veronese) at the National Gallery in Washington. My walls have always been covered with prints of paintings by Rubens, Titian, Giorgione, Ingres, Degas, Matisse, Bonnard, etc...
