Now here is an unusual way to do a painting. A similar way I work is to have uneven rectangles that fracture the picture plane.
 
This is SO cool! Can you tell us more about it? The media and sizes?
I used 140 pound watercolor paper (12 x 18 inch). I focused mostly on my brown and gray watercolors with the exception of the pants which I used some gouache to make it more vibrant. Blue Painters tape works well on unpainted paper but will cause damage on painted portions. The mosaic effect works well as each rectangle is individually painted. I also interject a little black ink to create a stone like effect.
