Jade, that is so cute and the bright colors are perfect for Inktense. The highlights in the eyes are well placed. I have seen Newell's tutorials, and she is very good. Check out
Lisa Lachri on YT. She is the one who does the artwork for the Inktense tins.
Grapes, according to Derwent, the manufacturer of Inktense, they are:
"Inktense is a line of vibrant, water-soluble art supplies (pencils and blocks) by Derwent that create intense, ink-like color when activated with water, becoming permanent and waterproof once dry, unlike traditional watercolors. They're used for drawing, painting, and mixed media on paper, fabric, wood, and ceramic, offering rich, permanent color that can be layered without lifting previous washes, making them great for detailed work and creating depth."
They different from watercolor pencils in that the color (ink based) is permanent when dry, so it will not lift when glazing. In my experience, the pigment must all be fully activated or it will lift if more water is added. The set I have is pictured below. The price has more than doubled from when I bought it a few years ago.
