Hello everyone. I'm writing from the city of Denver in Colorado, USA. I'm an artist but mainly in the areas of music and the sub-category of narrative storytelling. I do dabble in artistic imagery and video but exclusively as the artwork for music I'm releasing. Kinda like Joni Mitchell but without any of the success, fame, or fortune.

I find this forum to be very helpful when looking for inspiration. Some amazing talent and vision on display.

I also have a sideline as a model for figure drawing classes which I do mainly for fun and exercise. I suppose that is tangentially related to the visual arts. Posing certainly has an artistic component.

Hello and welcome!👋🏻 Glad to have you here. It is a very supportive place. I hope you will share your work and even some of your music if you want to. Do you do album art covers?
Posing in life drawing classes takes a lot of strength and stamina. Holding those positions. Some not very natural, especially for any length of time. Hope to see you around on the threads.🙂

Welcome to Creative Spark! We're happy you joined us.

By all means, please share as much of your art and music as you please. :) The site owners are also musicians, as well as some of our other members.

Enjoy the forum!

Hi Chadwig, and welcome to the forum. Please make yourself at home :)

I admire anyone who can pose for figure drawing. I can't stay still for more than 30 seconds!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I'll probably lurk a bit until I'm comfortable but will definitely post some stuff down the line.

Welcome! Could you explain what musical "narrative storytelling" is? Operas come to mind, as do what I think of as their modern descendants, "musicals". Am I close? Or off the wall?

Thanks,
--Rich

Welcome chadwig. Make yourself comfortable and post whenever you feel like it. I have been away for the last week or so, but am trying to catch up now. Yes, we are musicians and writers as well here.

It's much simpler than you're imagining. It means any song or piece of music that tells a story. Can be a musical number, can be folk ala Dylan's "Tangled Up In Blue", can be opera, can be a classical piece like Ravel's "Bolero". I generally write more in the folk style and sometimes delve into the musical number style, but always with vocals.
