My Dad #54

Hi folks, today's daily was an emotional ride.
My Dad, now passed, from a photo during the wake for Mum.. ..
Gouache on WC 300gm paper 10x15cm.
The likeness is ok, as the colours dry and settle, I see some passages that could be better, but not sure I can do more... hurts.

The photo seems to pop some of the colours more than the painting. But I'm ok with the "rawness" of the work, kinda what I'm aiming at overall.

I think it is a beautiful job, Murray. It was a little over a year before I could draw a picture of my Mother after she passed. I knew I wanted to do a painting of her or something so I finally drew a tribute drawing of her. My sympathies on your loss and you have made a super portrait of him.

((Hugs)) Murray. I think it is a very beautiful, very sensitive portrait. Expressive and not static. The adjustment of colours look good.
I can just imagine how hard that was to do. I think you should be proud of yourself for getting through that, and getting your father on canvas. It is a beautiful memorial to him.

It is a lovely portrait! The image was large on my screen and I had to reduce it to view it at the size that you have painted it. I am glad I did that, because the impact is so much better at the right size.
