Hi folks, I was reading some poetry about light and dark ... Miracles. And the thoughts stuck. Anyway, dealing with another dose of wog, aches, sore throated etc etc but managed a daily. It's a selfie using a photo ref. Gouache on WC 300gm, 10x15cm.

I'm sorry you've been sick! Pretty good job here for feeling under the weather. Love your coloring - this is very impressive work, Murray.

Get better soon!

Great job on this and kudos for getting up and doing that when you’re not feeling well. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Murray I really am enjoying these self portraits! You have so much feeling captured in seeking your likeness. This is far better than just a static portrait. There’s a little bit of Cezanne, there’s a little bit of Rembrandt, there’s some contemporary master portrait painters I’ve seen over the last 25 years. I love it!! I am so glad you posted it. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️

Oh, I think I would be happy with 10% of those thoughts. Thank you so much.
These have taken on whole new aspect. Its kinda like, human still life. I have been doing simple fruit SL in between to remind myself of form and light. The face is the ultimate drama still life. I'm just trying to "paint what I see" rather than what it's meant to be... Tricky. But ultimately, between subject eye hand brush and colour mix the variables spin like tops and it becomes interpretive, the way I think of it anyway.
