My basketry

These are beautiful Hosta. I remember seeing a PBS program years ago on basket weaving and thought it looked very interesting. It takes a lot of skill to make baskets of your quality.

Thank you, ams. I suspect the PBS program was one that I wanted to see, but never did. Several years ago, Bonnie Gale (willow specialist) told me that she had been commissioned to do a huge custom historical basket for a PBS special they were filming. Is that what you saw? I wonder if I could find the show somewhere for streaming.

Thank you so much for sharing Hostajunkie! That First one looks so interesting, I've never seen something like that.

Oh, these are nice! That top one is especially beautiful!
My betrothed crochets handy little baskets similar to the fabric one, and she works with a woman who comes from a family tradition of basket weavers (passed down from generation to generation) who exclusively uses strips from white oak to make hers from the ground up. I admire the dexterity, precision, and patience that goes in to that kind of work

Thank you, Cindypaintings, Ferlian, laika, and Trier!

Cindy, yes, baskets like the first and last one do make the fingers sore. There’s a lot of pulling, rubbing, and pinching that happens when you’re trying to shape the material and squeeze everything in so tightly. :)

😲 Wow .. I'm all amazed how beautiful ❤️work these are! I've never known anybody doing this and I'm glad I met you here and saw your basket art/craft.

Those are beautiful. I tried basket weaving a long time ago. All I remember about it is I got wet.

Thank you so much, moscatel, Dm7, and Jane!

I have always loved baskets, but never dreamed I’d end up making them. Lol!
