This is an oil painting on fairly good canvas. 25x38 cm.

I have been thinking to paint something over and it would be possible because the sepia color is very thin layer.

On the other hand I could keep this painting but in that case:
🦘 how much color to add? Just a little bit and leaving this under painting showing a bit?
🦘 finish it properly keeping this sepia/green layer as an underpainting? In this case I'm not sure if I ruin the roos completely because I really don't know how to paint animals. Probably will be ruined.
🦘 Leave it as it is and has been the past years.

Hard choice. I like it the way it is. But I think it depends how you feel. Do you really want to move forward with the painting and try different things? Are you happy the way it is? You shouldn’t have any problems covering over that paint if you want to. Will you miss it if it’s gone? Any subject just takes practice. And you’re already ahead because you’ve got a good eye. That’s what it comes down to even with something we don’t feel as comfortable painting. Just drawing what you see. If you feel like experimenting a little further it would be a great to see what you come up with. Could be fun! Unless you have a whole other plan for a new painting that you need the canvas for.

PaintBoss, it's hard choice, isn't it! I kind of like it at least the way it is but I'm missing something there to keep the painting .. as we will have a move waiting for us in the close future so we need to have less stuff, less moving boxes, paintings included. So, somehow I should work more on this one so that it qualifies for the move 😂.

Been there. It’s hard sometimes parting with stuff or having to get rid of stuff. I think it’s a really good start. So unless you love love love love love it. As opposed to just feeling hopeful about it that it has potential, I would say do it or lose it. Maybe we should make it a challenge this week just to Give it a little time but not too much time to see what can be done. If you don’t like it, you can paint over it.

Will post the final result when done. It can be before or after my summer trip 😉. Before I'm quite busy but maybe I start working on it already tomorrow. Thanks so much!

Awesome! I look forward to seeing what happens with the painting. And I hope you have a great trip! Please take lots of reference photos for the rest of us.😁

I have tried to capture our roo mob a few times. Not a recommendation, I like it as it is, but maybe more colour contrasts in the gran and perhapsa different / new focus in the sky.

JennieJo, thank you!
The reference photo was in one challenge long time ago somewhere on internet. I can't remember what location it is but l have visited Sydney and Melbourne with my Uni class, we drove from Sydney to Melbourne and on that road trip I saw high mountains. I don't recall that the land in the area would have been flat. Where we spent the night the hotel owners had seen kangaroos by the river early in the mornings. So, some of us woke up at 5 am and went down to the river to see roos but they weren't lucky that day.
