Thanks Grapes!
I'm currently in a conundrum about whether tj start buying hot press paper for these drawings 🤔 do you think it makes much difference? I am using 220gsm smooth paper such seems ok...

I have no idea about those papers. I don't really use color pencils or other similar tools. I know what is good for charcoal and pencil only.

Beautiful - you should frame this! Lovely perky expression and expressive eyes.

Hot press is generally for the most detailed things, like ink. Of course, it is a matter of preference.

Ask yourself why you need it. Easy to think better tools make better artist but artistry is not limited to supplies.

Thanks Joy. Yes I'm going to frame his cute little face. 🐾

Ok, I get do confused about paper. 🥴 Maybe I'm ok without and wise words from Wayne. My husband agrees with you too about not buying more stuff btw! 😄

Jade, what I've experienced and learned since I started painting is that when we're beginners it's better to have very good tools bc they help you to become better. When we are more experienced we can work just fine with just about any quality of materials. Get some good stuff and they help you forward. Good materials and tools play big part of art making.
When I work with pencils (talking about serious work) I choose Canson paper. Would it work for colored pencils?

Thanks Grapes. I found an "art bank" near us the other day and picked up some watercolour paper, I'm not quite sure what type it is lol but I'll try it out soon to see how it goes. I can tell it has more "tooth" than what I've been using. I've got a bit obsessed, as I do 😄 about getting new paper but the one I have been using is pretty good actually and little Jack Russell came out pretty well from that side too. So I'll have a little play. The wc paper will be good for retrying inktense too.

I've spent quite a lot on art and crochet materials this year so trying to be efficient too. The prices of art materials make me a bit nervous! 😅

I've been doing the same from last year on. Trying to buy less art materials and reuse supports what I have already. It can get crazy expensive.
