I sanded one canvas and made two small holes on the canvas. I wanted to use this canvas again but how is it possible now?
(Hole details below)

I haven’t watched the videos but wonder if you could use acrylic medium as an adhesive for scraps of canvas on the back of your painting. It dries clear and it’s usually effective.

John, thank you 🙏. There's the solution for me!

Wayne, thank you, will check that too.

Donna, thank you so much .. in the video he uses gesso (matt front and glossy back side) but I don't have at the moment but I have some acrylics. Great idea 👌. Acrylic paint will work, after all they are do close to gesso. Glad you brought it up.

Not good to put acrylic over oil, but if you don't seal the sanded canvas with something the fresh oils will soak into the canvas and bleed. The soaked spots will remain dull. I haven't watched the video but the best way to patch a hole is glue a canvas scrap to the back side.

Pva glue. The patch 1 inch bigger all around than the hole. Glue it, put weight on it as it dries. Fill the slight depression on the painting side after patch with modelling paste or medium, level with knife, let dry, sand lightly, gesso.cut circular patch so it has no corners to lift.

I was thinking to put that acrylic to the back of the canvas not to the oil side. They did that with gesso in the video. Originally I had thought to use clue but for some reason in youtube they want to avoid using clue, I wonder why? Maybe because it's a strong material.

Perhaps they were thinking just glue.
Artists should use a neutral pH, archival-grade PVA size instead of standard craft glue, as the latter can yellow and become brittle over time

Wayne, l used to prepare my own sizing when I was priming wood boards. I think I still have materials left to do more. I could use that. I'm following Sadie Valerie's receipt for the size & chalk gesso to prime.

I watch Baumgartner Restoration on YT and have seen how he repairs holes in valuable canvases. I wouldn't bother!
