Holga shots from Paris

The Holga is a toy film camera that's been around for decades. In China, where it's made, it was considered a toy for kids with its plastic lens and propensity for light leaks (and the back of the camera falling off if one didn't tape it!). It has only a center "sweet spot" that will actually focus, and the rest of the frame falls off in a blur. There is some vignetting in the corners, and light can get oddly bounced around.

Of course, for those very faults it's a fun camera to use! It's also lightweight and small, so it was easy for me to tote around despite my back and knee issues.

Eiffel Tower in the distance (I didn't bother cropping this one because I like the numbers showing across the top here):

Everyone is happy, it seems, wandering around the Eiffel Tower. Eiffel Tower exuberance:

Why yes - this is the same Sennelier store that was frequented by Pablo Picasso; it's located at 3 quai Voltaire, along the Seine. ❤️ Of course I went in and bought stuff. Before I went in, though, this guy (clearly after my own heart) posed for a photo in front of the store, taken by his companion:

Also along the Seine, though on the other side from where I was, is The Louvre:

Thanks for looking! :)

@Jade - thank you! 😊 I like prattling about that camera.

Wayne, Donna, Bongo, Joy - thank you all for looking and commenting! Simple camera, quirky shots - it's a lot of fun. 😁

Okay, Kay- you got engaged in the romance city! That's so lovely. You must love visiting whenever you can. ❤️

Thank you - that's a nice thing to say! 😊Photography is like any other art form, less about the tools used than who's using them.

Very good photographs. Like memories of a dream :)
I've been enjoying the Holga for years. I think the limitations of the camera awakens the creative spirits.

Yes I agree. The picture also reminds me of when Instagram has lovely filters, back in the day... 👵

It's quite eye opening to look at these photos, Terri. Eye opening in the sense that I see in them great beauty, achieved in a way that I am unable to do, but wish I could do. I am trapped in an obsession with focus and clarity, which prevents me from achieving the dreamy quality in your photos. I adore the Sennelier photo.
