Oil on wood board, 25x35 cm.

This summer I participated the Art in the Open pleinair festival in Ireland 🇮🇪.

It was pretty nice day to paint outside. We were painting from 9:00 am till 17:00 when our bus took us home. Long painting days during this week lasting event.

Straight ahead in distance you can see the famous Hook Head lighthouse, it was quite visible on location and wanted to include it to this painting. I should still make it more visible in my painting.

The beach full of pleinair painters in the distance as we were more than 200. Also several workshops were happening there during the day.

Jade, thank you!
It was fun to try paint something stronger/dramatic/moody as the sky presented that way anyways. I often paint skies dull plain blue with some white clouds floating.

I can see that Grapes .. it probably wasn't the balmiest day weather wise, when you were there but it gave you lots of opportunities for different values and dramatic colours!

I enjoyed a lot my day out that day.
Contrary to the photos of the sky there wasn't much wind, l was painting in calm few other painters next to me and my things didn't fly away.
I was painting on the sand barefoot and went to walk to the sea water below knees. Just enjoying.
That day was probably one of the best during the week 😂 seriously. But we're talking about Ireland and the weather can be tricky.

Jade said it well: you caught the mood of the sky and sea. It’s not easy to do that so congrats on a beautiful painting that takes us there! I’m noticing how dark you made the clouds and it’s helpful because I’m afraid to make them as dark as they appear. They add so much to the drama of the scene. Walking barefoot on the sand and being able to paint all day … that’s living!

Jade, Wayne & Donna, thank you for commenting!

I was happy for warm day at the beach and in Ireland overall because we've had too cold year at home. I was surprised how warm the weather and sea water were in Ireland. I had prepared for cold after reading comments of other painters.
