This pleinair with sheep was the last one of the Art in the Open pleinair week in Ireland. It's the second one that day in Clonegal. I did one very, very last one after this by myself in the Wexford Harbor just to use leftover paint before packing and heading to the airport.
The day started out cloudy but sun appeared later as we were in this location to 5 pm. Kind of a loose style, without worries, different pleinair and in a little over an hour done and yes, the sheep kept moving continuously. Sky/light changed from one moment to another. But it didn't rain!

This is an accomlished painting by any measure. Then to read that it was done in an hour, plein aire and with moving subjects- I am full of admiration!

Jade, thanks 🙏 Yes, little over an hour. Spending time painting pastures while waiting for our ride back to the apt.

I am in awe too, Grapes: one hour and such a beautiful painting! The patchwork fields in the distance are almost as appealing as the sheep but who could resist those wooly models. Thank you for sharing the photos. It looks like everyone enjoyed being there.

Donna, thanks! Once in Ireland painting the sheep is a 'must'. I was surprised how full Ireland was of sheep & cows.

Wow, you're brave to tackle something so complicated in that short a time! You did an exceptional job with it. ❤️ ❤️

Sno, Wayne thank you!
Every now and then I try painting animals in the scene. I find them difficult to draw/paint and this is so good practice. 🐑 🐑 🐑
Also, landscapes could become more interesting with animals in them.

I love this one!

Nicely rendered, and you did it so fast!

Something about this reminds me of a piece my mother did when she was a teenager. When I was a child, the house my grandparents lived in had a large painting in their kitchen. My mother had painted a large farm scene across the entire wall when she was young. I always liked that piece, and I was sad when they sold the house because being on the actual wall, they couldn't exactly take it with them. I imagine the new owner likely covered it...
I always loved the little sheep and chickens she'd painted.

Anyways... Your piece makes me smile. And even more so because it brings back that memory. 🙂

Beautiful work! Applause.

Ireland was good to yourself, inspiration wise. ❤️ I hope you had a blast.
