Back in summer, a friend found a pack of charcoal pencils at work which were unclaimed. He gave them to me knowing I'd make the most of them, and of course the first thing I did was draw my charming little man!

Using them on my go to tan toned Strathmore paper was definitely the best move, I love how the paper works as a natural mid tone. I'm really happy with how the details of the fur texture came out too, especially as it was my first time drawing with the medium.

Beautiful fur. I'll have to try that paper, I have been doing some drawing on brown card which is fun. Your little man looks very charming!

I like the effect you got using the paper as the midtone.

What a nice surprise gift the pencils were.

Andy, I don’t know if it was planned or not, but your proportion is a bit whacky and it’s a beautiful thing. It’s got a style and pizzaz all of its own. It reminds me of some wonderful animation I have seen in the past. I absolutely love it! You gave that little kitty a lot of spirit!👏🏻🙂

The wonkiness was sort of planned - in that the reference photo I used was off centre. I'm really happy you like it.
