Cats 🐈

Thanks Jo! I preferred my cat with the hat sketch to the pearl earring one but it's all part of the process.. & I now have loads of cat pictures saved to work through.. practice, practice, practice. Luckily it's good fun eh?! 😉

Beginning to feel a sense of direction too.. I like animal pics but especially cats, with very colourful, abstract backgrounds.

I really like this by Ashley Hacksaw who I discovered on YT.

One more thing..

Cats are looking very creative! I really like the cat with the pearl earring! Do you have a live cat model who might pose for you?

I have limited supplies atm and no cat colours so this worked well with cream paper, Sharpies and uni-pin chisel 1.0 and 2.0.

You caught Bob’s expression so well! If he’s like most cats he’s probably a more cooperative model when he’s asleep. 😁 I like the bold, colorful cats very much and think you’re having a lot of fun with these!

I appreciate that Donna. I just did another one in about 10 mins on lined paper to try and not think too much ... I was wondering about posting in the animal drawing section too for some technical advice. IMG_20250719_202840525_MFNR.jpg

Yes, a sleeping cat is much easier! 😹 Thank you.. I'm learning to play! 😃

Btw, I love your art. Really impressive. I want to get to painting at some point.

Jade, have you looked at cat drawing tutorials on YouTube? I’m always looking at tutorials there and some of them are very helpful. The good ones for animals have you start with the shape of the skull and then place the landmarks for ears and eyes and mouth. Getting the structure right to start with makes the rest fall in place - for animals and landscapes and still life’s …. Keep up the great work!

Great minds think alike Donna. 👊 That's exactly what I realised after posting here last night, I went on YT this morning, found "Lethal Chris Drawing" with a 7 min video on drawing a cat's face. With some pauses, I managed to do this which I'm pleased with... As you said, once you get the structure right, it helps it flow.

I really appreciate the encouragement btw ❤️
