Today's sketch, I'm trying to do a picture of a cat (or two) a day to improve my skills.i think I'm getting a bit better at sizing and proportions but want to develop my shading. Had fun most importantly tho! ☺️

.. we are all in the same boat. Practice is the only way. Practice till you own it. Much nicer than my first feeble attempts at animals.

I love your cats! They are all impressive.

There's an Outsider artist who painted nothing but cats. His name was Louis Wain. Check him out.

Wise words again Enyaw. 👍 I've saved what you wrote.

It's the conundrum I've noticed since I've started drawing again.. learning to draw well and learn techniques but also allowing my interpretation or style to come through naturally.. practice, practice, practice... ✏️

Thanks so much! 🙏 I do enjoy drawing them. I will. I was wondering if there's anyone else like this... 👌

I just checked out Louis.. I really like the style and of course, cats! I like that some of the cats are quite psychedelic too.

More cats! These are wonderful, Jade, and I love how you worked in a cat with those bright colors and designs! Keep playing!

Artyczar I went down a very enjoyable rabbit hole after you recommended Louis Wain...! Weirdly I saw a picture in a shop last week that I loved that if not by him, was someone very similar. I'm discovering my style inspiration!

I've saved loads of his pics for later. I then discovered someone called Cheryl De Los Reyes Chez from Argentina who also does delightful art, a lot of it cat related. I just copied this..

With my "paw patrol" pencil !

I think I'm learning proportions but finding it difficult about where and when to shade in order to create angles and light. 🤔

Fun though! I have a sketchbook just for cats now 😹

Fun and great practice. That is what it takes. Thinking as shapes and where the light would strike ... or not! I love this , you did well.
