I suppose different inks have different densities, misicibilities and viscosities, the order in which they are dropped defines the depth they go. With some practice you learn where each drop will end. You do not need it to be too accurate as the brain will strive to give anything it sees a meaning, so as long as the color layout can be made sense of, anything will do. And it'll look like magic. The comments have been added just to reinforce in viewers the idea that everything must be random and "unexplainable" to hid how it works and drive attention off track.
