That's fair enough. Personally, I'm not overly enamored of observational realism... although Rembrandt and Velazquez are so damn good that I make an exception for them.
 
I like the style of the painting (if not the attire). To me, it has a modern quality akin to illustration, illustration in advertising. It's not too hardcore realism.

The smock though, and possibly the young man's bearing, does leave you with the niggling impression that his head has been painted on backwards. No?
 
I have not yet read the little book on botticelli that I had taken, hearing about it reminds me to read it.
 
Botticelli's paintings are truly beautiful works of art. Queen Elizabeth II's wedding dress was inspired by Botticelli's primavera.
I know that any item can be valued at the price one is willing to pay and I think many things in this life are overvalued because of that very fact. However, at least in this case the buyer was paying for quality.
