One of my Art School professors was Scottish and introduced us to a good many British painters including Auerbach and Kossoff. A number of the British painters of the period... including Kossoff, Auerbach, Francis Bacon, and Lucian Freud became known as the "School of London". They frequently hung out together... circling around the star of the period, Francis Bacon.
