Hi folks, very quick gouache, at least for me, about 90 minutes. On WC paper 10x15 cm from a web photo of Jackson Pollock. Such a face, you really see his torment in the photo. I think it's an ok likeness, I see errors, but, as a quick study, I did not expect much. I guess I'm aiming for quick impressions, trying to cut through to a method I can handle and feel ok with. It's less about portraiture, more about"method and madness".

Well you pack a lot of character into your quick paintings! Yeah you captured some intensity here. Like you said it doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s about capturing the essence of somebody. I didn’t know he was troubled, but I can see it in this painting. There’s something going on.
 
He sure was tormented but he found a lot of peace when he was out in his barn dripping paint from a stick onto his huge canvases. You caught his troubled life in his expression, Murray.
