Just trying to learn more about portraits so tried filmmaker Sir Alfred Hitchcock using DaVinci's Payne's Gray watercolor on 140 lb cold press paper today. I'm sure it is full of mistakes!

Aha! You’ve nailed his expression! I remember watching Hitchock’s Hour in B&W. Great brushwork as usual.

Hi Kay, I really like the feel of this. The Paynes Grey works so well. While a likeness or realistinc impression is great, and to me I see Alfred, there is a special quality in the artist bringing a part of a personality to the fore. Each artists sees a different snippet. This goes a long way towards achieving that quality. Nice.
