This acrylic cat painting is based on a digital composition I posted in the Digital art section. It's painted on 16 x 20 inch canvas. Critiques welcome.

That’s an eye-catching design! I love this and the digital version but this one will look great on a wall.

Yeah, it's not meant to be a realistic depiction but a bit of an abstract so I wanted to use some color from the background in the cat

I figured that was it. I would have given the cat a tie. Life is wonderful, we are all so different in so many ways. It’s a strong piece as it says CAT

What I like most about this is the composition of varied shapes. It is very well considered, with variation in the shapes that keep the viewer's eye moving towards the COI. I have not attempted anything like this, but I would think something that appears simplistic in design requires a lot of planning. For example, not having any of the edges of the shapes bisect the cat, or end at the edges of the cat's features, like the tips of the ears. Wonderful collection curves and lines that complement the subject perfectly.

Thank you very much Joy. The design was composed in a graphics program (Inkscape), which makes it very easy to move things around and change colors without worrying that I might ruin what I already have done. This gives me the freedom to come up with compositions I would have never have thought of by drawing and painting the traditional way. I sometimes make "real" paintings out of the ones I really like.
