End of the World As We Know It

Looks like a cover for Alas, Babylon! (Anyone read that book?)

    On top of oil paint

Maybe it was water-miscible oil paint?? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Knowing several house painters, a cardinal rule is, "Never, ever, ever put water-based paint over oil paint! DON'T!" Because in a few years you'll have an unhappy customer and your reputation will be mud.

    Marundeeswarar Temple Festival - Drummers

Well done! It brings the drum solo in the '60s song, "Wipeout" to mind, although I suppose the drummers' beat was not quite so fast! 😉

What art supplies have you bought recently?

Getting "stuff" is always fun! 😁 The "charcoal watercolours" sounded interesting, so I googled it. Not sure if I'd want to get a 37 ml tube, however, which is what the review said it came in. Thanks, --Rich

    Art for what's sake?

But call them a "discerning connoesieur"! (The buyer, not the piglets! 😁)

    Hello from Mexico

Hello, Elsa, and welcome! I have good memories from the time I visited Oaxaca! Loved the mountains! and the people! Again, ¡bien venido! (I hope I got my high school Spanish right! 😁)

    Nail Polish

Now there's an idea! 😉 That's why the good Lord invented high winds, hurricanes, and tornadoes! Sweeps the smells away, and helps dry the picture really fast! (I won't go into debris giving a 3D look!) 🤔 😁

    Nail Polish

Very nice! Although I was wondering what "nail polish" had to do with watercolor! 🤔 😄🤣😄🤣 (I'm OK! Really!)

    Art and Humor

Well, the title is "I'm an artist and it's clear I spend all my money in art stores!" ¡Gracias a Srta. Gomez y Sra. Campos!

    New here

Welcome! Could you explain what musical "narrative storytelling" is? Operas come to mind, as do what I think of as their modern descendants, "musicals". Am I close? Or off the wall? Thanks, --Rich

    How to give a critique

I think $41 million says more about the purchaser than the artist!

    Framed

I also prefer the reddish mat. There's the color contrast (red-blue), but not so much tonal contrast as seen with the whitish and blue. That's my opinion, and I'm sticking with it! Until I don't! 😉

    How to give a critique

Gee, I wonder if Leonardo simply liked Mona's smile, and wanted to share it with others?

Duct-taped banana artwork sells for $6.2m in NYC

Agreed. Although I would not be too surprised to find that it was 2nd or 3rd generation inherited wealth. (I visited the Vanderbilt Museum on Long Island, NY years ago. Sad story about the generations.) But when the banana goes bad, what happens? Replace it with a plastic one?
