No boat camp here, I appreciate the sense of tranquility that radiates from your painting. I also really like the pattern of the waves I think a boat would distract from that.

Most art supplies but especially paper/sketchbooks need a certain incubation time before they get used by me. I feel rather silly about it but that doesn't change the behavior....

Agree with Zendruid. Trust your process. It looks promising, and most likely great when it´s finished. Also I think that "ruler straight" would not really fit with your style anyway.

Weird. I quite like ultramarine blue, especially mixed with burned sienna for nice greys. Apparently it's my favorite color as it's the first to run out...
