    Christmas paintings 🎄

Wow, Mosc, such an ambitious project! I don’t think I could do it myself. And these aren’t just little sketches either, they’re fully rendered paintings. Well done on all of them! Hi to everyone else! I signed up a long time ago, but the system still sees me as a “New Member” because I’ve been...

Is there a supplies buy/sell thread?

I think the sub-forum is a great idea, but can't seem to find it!

    Hello again!

Whoops...I meant to edit the above and instead started a new reply. Sorry! I didn't see a way to delete this.

    Hello again!

Interesting! It looks like Aiyn has already asked one of the first questions that came to my mind. But I'm also curious about what life is like there. It seems that yours is an extremely successful society.

Varnish on painting sold in online exhibit? Many questions!

OK...so there's the image again. Thanks, Aiyn! Yes, that's pretty much how I've learned to apply varnish. But here in the PNW, it's so wet so much of the time that I'm tending not to use spray varnish much, because the moisture interferes with application, and I can't leave a painting outside...

Varnish on painting sold in online exhibit? Many questions!

Thanks, Ayin. I haven't used matte in the past, but as I think about it, it might work for this particular painting. But how much drying time before application does it require? (presuming a fairly flat application of paint, no impasto). I've sometimes used Krylon QuickDry, which creates a...

Varnish on painting sold in online exhibit? Many questions!

Wouldn't even retouch tend to still be slightly wet until a few days go by - enough to cause a problem if rubbed or touched? For some reason, my paintings always seem to have areas of different gloss, some more, some less. I even stopped using earth colors to try to avoid it. Actually, now I've...

Varnish on painting sold in online exhibit? Many questions!

This particular painting really needed something to even out the color, as some was glossy and some more matte. But I do generally varnish because of the way varnish saturates the color.

    Hello again!

Hi E.J.H. and my apologies for not being very clear. I guess there are a lot of non-US folks here and I'll have to be more careful. Where are you from?

    Hello again!

Hello! I had actually joined the site before, quite a while ago, but then I had some issues arise and by the time I tried to return, I had lost my log in credentials, and even the email I used (an important life lesson in making sure to write such information down someplace). So now I'm happy to...

    Defective Frames--Grrrr.

I love the painting and a floater frame seems perfect for it. Do you think your local framer might be able to build the pieces that would match the ones you've already used, for you to assemble and paint? That might be a way to save some money. This isn't of much help, but I've also noticed the...

Varnish on painting sold in online exhibit? Many questions!

My dilemma is that the painting in question has not actually sold, but because it's a holiday small works show, it still may. If so, I'll need to have it ready for transport to the exhibit location and its new owner. But it's a fairly recent painting and not varnished yet. I could technically...
